    This is the old boy network of Boston pols. They don't take kindly to girls who want to play in their game.

    It wasn't just Martha Coakley. They did the same thing to Jane Swift. Now, it seems, they're going to be just as chivalrous to Professor Warren.

      But you are absolutely on the money about the "old boy network."

      Massachusetts may be full of college towns. That doesn't make it a bastion of liberalism when it comes to local elections or on-the-ground politics.

          the South Shore (Brown's turf), the western Cape, and the Blackstone Valley area is purple trending red (or in the case of Blackstone, already there).

          The conservative communities in Greater Boston are somewhat offset by the votes of the college community and the biotech type workers, which is why town/gown politics is more than just who gets to park where.
