    could have been ended by majority vote of Israel's citizens at any time. But a lot of them benefit from the system, most importantly the minor parties in the current coalition. The protestors may need to wait until the next elections, scheduled for 2013.

      In parliamentary systems, the head of state has one and only one real duty: to dissolve Parliament when it has lost popular legitimacy but the ruling party refuses to go.

      But if the head of state is a party hack or a lazy person, that won't happen.
