    Most proportional representation systems have a "threshold", so that parties with less than 5% support can't get into the Parliament at all.

    Israel has no threshold.  This means that there are always a lot of very, very tiny parties and it's impossible to form a government without them.  Unfortunately this acts as an incentive for governments to work with crackpot right-wing parties, which are generally slightly larger than crackpot left-wing parties.... and so the governments get dragged further and further to the right.
