The terminology and labelling is important to know, but I think that, in general, most people aren't all that interested in learning the details and will revert to the broad brush and simplistic level of understanding. Bumper stickers are easy to understand. This is human nature, I suppose. For those who are interested, these diaries</> posts are just plain awesome.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about the broad brush and assuming the worst about others. The people we are discussing here are not stupid or delusional. They willingly participate.

The fact is that the strategy of the rabid right wing is what's being pushed. It's the John Birchers and Heritage Foundation blather. These billionaire organizations literally own the Christian radio stations and supply much of the agenda. Equating Democrats with the Devil is a Paul Weyrich invention. ALEC is a Paul Weyrich invention. They financed the rise of Jerry Falwell and many others. They literally bought and paid for several so-called conservative Christian "univerities". They arranged accreditation to legititmize the teaching of this nonsense. This didn't originate in any religious movement. They are literally altering religious belief structures to win elections and enrich themselves.

Exposing this manipulation might help the habitual Republican voter to think about their reasoning. Maybe. If they feel that they've been duped, all the better. Trying to tell them is never going to work.
