    It makes me happy to see him championing this policy.  
    Maybe it's because I'm already a socialist?
    I know the media like to kick the poor, but I didn't think the polls indicated that poor-kicking was an actually popular sport outside of the media.
    (I could easily be wrong, though; it would be far from the first time!)

      because the vast majority of noise makers, require the president to take advantage of every political point and opportunity he can, lest he again be judged incompetent.  

      Otherwise it has no affect other than positive for him and the families involved.

      My take is that when we do things like this in areas where the assistance is needed many of the families would rather pay for their own lunch and whether kicking the poor is popular or not wherever you mentioned, people would rather do for themselves and would in enough cases feel better if their misfortune wasn't used as an election campaign point if at all possible.
