  •  How to use this. First, SoundBite: "God told Adam (2+ / 0-)

to take care of the Garden, Governor, not let it burn.  Don't cut God's budget."

    Second, a legislative move:

We just need to get a House Member to introduce a piece of disaster relief legislation accompanied by a press release that names the locations' and the locations representatives

For each of these, the release should add one sentence: "I hope that my colleague will act to make this the highest priority possible."

It doesn't even have to be a real piece of legislation, just a resolution expressing support would be enough to get the Tea Partiers on record,  Then they could be challenged to put their money where their mouths are.

For that matter, here's a good soundbite for disaster victims. Thye are after all, taxpayers, so they should be saying to their reps: "Put our money where our mouths are!"

    •  Sorry, but no one has paid enough (0+ / 0-)

taxes in a decade to fund this.

Perhaps when disaster victims realize their tax cuts have actually left THEM out on the cold, pthey will change their mind about the "no taxes" mantra?  Talking about it, pointing out the dire consequences has not worked.  Perhaps people really do have to "live it to believe it".

Sucks for them, as they now reap what they sowed, but Texans fucking BRAG about no income tax and low, low corporate taxes.  I think it's time they suffer the consequences of those actions.

I don't think we can both argue that the right wing is brainwashing people into acting against their own interests and then condemn the brainwashed for their actions.

We need allies, and few allies are as fired up as those who realize that our opponents have betrayed them.

        •  I never argue that wingnuts are (0+ / 0-)

"brainwashed".  I talk to way too many of them and know that not to be true.

In any other state, I would say give them FEMA funds.  But not Texas.  They have the oil and gas industry that can not leave the state.  They should be taxing the shit out of them, but they don't.  They don't have an income tax.  The voters have chosen this.....for decades.

      •  Trouble is, Bastrop county, hard hit now, tends (0+ / 0-)

        to vote Democratic.
