That many would see it (Bin Laden's death) as the end of a war, rather than as just an act of justice (war is what I think you meant by 'took the nation down a dark path').

That definitely changes it, although I think many were also celebrating his death (I certainly was).

I disagree that he couldn't have been taken alive; the fact that they didn't kill everyone in there, and he was unarmed means people of the SEALs' training could probably have done it. They've done it before when they wanted info (taken high-level prisoners).  It was an execution.

Holder had actually said before congress that "he will never be brought back here" (find it on youtube, if you want, I'm not looking). I can tell you it was widely admitted that unless he was naked (meaning no chance of weapons at all), he was to be shot on sight by the SEALs.

How do you know that, exactly? Are you the Almighty, that you can peer into the hearts of men? Have you done studies, perhaps? Until you do, speak with a little more humility when you deign to lecture us poor, foolish liberals, while refusing to justify your position.
There's a good argument out there for the death penalty: MAKE IT, don't just sneer at people who disagree with you.

How do I know? If you break someone's heart, it's the same as breaking a million to that one person.

Therefore, if you kill one mother's son, w/ no empathy at all, you are capable of killing 3,000 mother's sons, w/ no empathy. I was talking about evil.

The death penalty is actually somewhat irrelevant. It's that anti-death penalty people shouldn't sneer at the people in that audience, if they cheered for Bin Landen's death. Unless it was for the end "of the war", and not gladness that he'd met justice.

PS - I think that was the end of the war, btw, it's just nobody noticed. We can finally pull out of these foreign entanglements, we've been in, and I doubt anyone would object, in either party, anymore. But the big man had to die first.
