is responsible to make sure that H-1B visa workers are not displacing US workers. So it is all under Obama's power to make this happen.

        •  It is perfectly legal to replace U.S. workers (2+ / 0-)

          with H-1B workers.

In fact, you can make training the H-1B replacement a condition of severance for U.S. workers.  Most people don't know this.

What is "perfectly legal" can still be stupid, counter-productive, unwise, unjust, misleading ...

Enron execs and accountants  said they believed what they were doing was legal, and some of it might have been, but hiding behind a thicket of legalisms isn't necessarily right. You can carry concealed weapons or brandish assault rifles in some states, but that doesn't mean doing so is sensible. The mortgage industry ignored the prudential value of 20% down, sensible appraisals and likely ability to pay while they preyed on a vulnerable consumers to buy or re-fi and started the deluge.

(I know, your comment was germane and appropriate. I just couldn't resist a cathartic rant!)

Obama and strong Democratic majorities in 2012!
