  •  I think you have an underlying (0+ / 0-)

resentment for anyone that gets help from family.  I too envy them the safety net that family affords, but I don't own the amount of sour grapes your post indicates.

Not having a personal safety net is definitely a disadvantage and one that government programs were designed to mitigate.  It is the GOP that wants to stop leveling the playing field and I think that is where your energies should probably be directed.

If you think education is expensive, wait until you see how much stupid costs

that I'd spent 40+ of my 51 years living at the 26k a year or less level -

and, yeah, I've ALWAYS known the fascists want me licking their boots to make a living ...

did you ever of proposition 13 out of california in 1978?

The Democratic party of political incompetents, sell outs, and those who are mix of each have NOT been able to staunch the negative effects of prop 13 style garbage for decades - prop 13 helped push raygun and his band of thieves into the limelight, and I hope you noticed what has happened in the last 30 years of Raygun-ism?

      WHY has that happened??

      well, let me see:

      1. you got people who excel at lying cuz they want the world to be their doormat, so they gotta excel at lying,

      2. we got a pathetic ass "opposition" of professional /managerial dilettantes who can't beat lying thieves!

      kind of tricky, no?

There are quite a few people who think they know what it is to be poor because they had to eat top ramen in college.

Never mind that it was someone else footing the bill....

That doesn't mean it's some how wrong for parents to help their kids through school, it just means that the presumptions of such folks are kind of insulting.

Poor isn't having to eat top ramen for a week.  It's having to feed it to your kids for a month.

All too often, those folks are just fine with a cut to food stamps, a slice on medicaid, a reduction in student aid....because, hey, you gotta be flexible and centrist, right?

But they don't know the pain of the sacrifice they're so willing to nobly ask others to endure.
