RadioGirl, the person that bbb told to shut the fuck up did not uprate any of those comments. So, if you're suggesting that she's (a fellow LGBT) is somehow a poster girl for what's wrong with this place, you're sorely mistaken.

In fact, your comment and this diary are a perfect illustration of what's wrong with this place. If your saying it's fine for bbb to be a dick, then why not Adept?  Dickishness is in the eye of the beholder.  The problem with this place isn't the dickishness.  It's that too few people around here are willing to admit error.

No need to squabble girls. There's plenty of me to go around. - Pam from True Blood

Unless you've got a whole slew of other 'bbb is a dick' moments stashed away, it looks like the difference lies in quantity of 'dickish moments'.  Anybody can have a bad day, anybody can snap briefly.  From the names I saw among the banned, and the talk about them by other posters, it sounds like they spent inordinate amounts of times being 'dickish' in one way or another - either being deliberately insulting much of the time, or deliberately trying to taunt others into 'dickishness'.

And from another of Clark's comments above 'it was not a side he showed to me' (I didn't copy that, so I might have paraphrased it slightly wrong) - I don't think dickishness is really all that much 'in the eye of the beholder'.  I think specific people were 'dickish' much more to specific other people, while being pleasant to other posters.

So to poster A, who never has poster C be 'dickish' to him, poster  is a nice enough person, but to poster B, who constantly is exposed to poster C being 'dickish', C has very little nice about them.  The same person, and the same total set of posts, but since they're aimed at different people, the poster looks completely different to those people.

So I would suggest that I don't quite agree with the diary.  I think it's reasonable to expect people to be 'dickish' at times, but not to spend all of their time being a dick towards certain other posters onsite.  And the flame wars on here (pie wars?  What's the obsession with pie around here?) looked to be the same exact set of core posters writing nasty comments and diaries back and forth, deliberately going in to hold HR/uprate fights.

I agree 100% with your last sentence, but I also expect that a lot of people to whom it applies would also agree 100% with it, while not assuming it applied to them or the people they agree with.
