  •  And I think you are quite wrong. (0+ / 0-)

Or at least I hope that you are wrong that Markos' intent was to purge individuals that he viewed as making unfounded accusations of 'racism' or being racist.

I hope that you are wrong because that is not what I see him doing.  I read his post on the subject and I took him to say that he was using an arbitary sampling process to weed out individuals whose names have floated to the top based on either the rec'ing or HR'ing of comments made by them.

Because if it was about addressing 'dickish' behavior associated with racism, then it was an epic fail.

By the way, BBB's comments were out of character for him and out of line.  I give him a reprieve because he doesn't usually act that way, but to say I'm disappointed in him as a front pager is an understatement.

I do expect a higher standard from all front pagers.

    But that's just me.

Markos can do what he wants to do because it's his board.

But as annoyed as I have been with the meta, I wasn't among those who decried for him to do something about it.  People are grown folk who ought to know how to draw their own lines.

The people who were banned, including those who I liked and respected, didn't know how to do that.  They let themselves get caught up in other's baiting games.

The baiters are still here and they are not.

Perhaps Markos' new moderation system will put the baiters in check as well.

That is another fallacy some people are intent on promoting.

Again, people who spoke out against Adept2U's abusive comments were then singled out and called "baiters" for doing so.  That is not the truth.

You can continue writing this meme, but most people know the truth.

Oh, and when 65 people HR one of his comments, does that make them all "baiters"?  That's alot of "Baiters".  Maybe you should notify the admin.

Or maybe you should take a look at the reality.  This is just another ploy to cover for your friend, who, like it or not, was not debating in good faith with his fellow Kossacks.

But I've worked on the moderating side before on a fanclub site, dealing with a lot of much younger and quite fanatical individuals.  I know baiting comments when I read them.

I will continue to write what I know is my truth.  You will continue to see things differently.  But learn anything you will not.

I look at the NAMES of individuals who do the rec'ing and HR'ing and they are among the same clique of folk -- on both sides.  I look at NAMES, not just the number.  Markos looked at the numbers and made his call.  That's his right, but that is exactly what he did in part although he did state that he also read some of the commentary and reviewed patterns of behavior as well.

As far as notifying admin, I'm not a tattletale.  I don't need to be.  I know how to conduct myself.  But it's not going to stop me from saying what I have to say and calling things out as I see it.

Lastly, it would help if you would considered other POVs other than your own before you just write them off.  I don't have friends here.  Just people whose opinions I either agree or disagree with.  I don't know them anymore than I know you.  I don't need to defend them to you or anyone else.  I clearly acknowledged that they were banned and why they were banned.

I also know other truths as well.  You can choose to poo poo it, but it won't stop me from continually pointing it out.

But if you make comments that I take issue to, I'm just going to reply.  That's all.
