    that's why a lot of groups have developed to encourage women to run

    we all know what role women usually serve in politics:  the unpaid organizer, the low-paid campaign worker, or, if she's lucky, the low-paid staffer.

      Secretary of State we've had. That's a bigger and more important job than VP. So women have had some real power, just not the presidency. Unless you count Edith Wilson and Nancy Reagan.

        I was thinking of Congress and the Presidency--elected offices.

        And yeah, Bill actually did a fair amount for this on the appointee end.

        Madeline Albright is a great example.
