the President and his staff have a keen sense of timing.

We had EXACTLY the same criticism of Obama during the 2008 election...he wasn't fighting. Right up until the end, he  held back. Then planted McCain and Palin in the last month.

Same with fund raising....putting out leaks that his campaign wouldn't meet goals, then pulling out record breaking months....

...when it seemed Health Insurance Reform was DEAD, it was revived and zipped through congress even as Republicans did their victory dance and had their attentions turned to something else...

    Over and over again.

Honestly, I think Republicans need to a chance to blow their wad in a thunderous burst of force that simply can't be sustained...but it also can't be fought while it's in full swing.

Anyone notice how puny and pathetic Tea Party rallies are?

Ride it out...ride it out...then hit HARD.

Sadly, all that it signals is that there is an election coming.

"dead" because it was crafted by the the Insurance industry...particularly Wellpoint , whose Rep. Liz Fowler, took a 'temporary leave' from the industry to craft it.

Not a surprise really that upon passage of the health care bill, Max Baucus would openly thank Liz Fowler, the former Wellpoint VP, for writing it:
I wish to single out one person, and that one person is sitting next to me. Her name is Liz Fowler. Liz Fowler is my chief health counsel. Liz Fowler has put my health care team together. Liz Fowler worked for me many years ago, left for the private sector, and then came back when she realized she could be there at the creation of health care reform because she wanted that to be, in a certain sense, her profession lifetime goal. She put together the White Paper last November–2008–the 87-page document which became the basis, the foundation, the blueprint from which almost all health care measures in all bills on both sides of the aisle came.

don't take this personally, b/c I like your work, but that narrative of the health care bill can only be sustained if you believe that ACA constitutes "hitting hard" and I don't see how creating a semi-permanent umbilical cord funneling public money to the insurance industry constitutes a hard hit.

A public option would have been a solid hit.  Medicare for all would be a hard hit.
