  •  Excellent diary (9+ / 0-)

Excellent musical accompaniment.  I forgot how much I like Tracy Chapman.  Have to dig up a  CD that I know I have somewhere.

Protesters in Newark have vowed to stand in front of the courthouse everyday for the coming year.

Well that is some activism worth taking a drive to show solidarity with.  I need to make some plans.

That one is already on my agenda.  It's going to cost me healthwise but we are already making the plans.

In fact the October2011 group is going there tomorrow and thursday to show solidarity with them. I got an email from october2011 today about it.

September 14: The October2011 Movement will stand in solidarity with the Peoples Organization for Progress in Newark, NJ. POP and October2011 support the same issues: jobs, justice, education, health care, housing and an end to war and violence.

POP began a 381-day protest, modeled after the Montgomery, AL bus boycott, on June 27th of this year. Every day of the week, members of POP take it to the streets.

October2011 will join them on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the  intersection of Springfield Ave and West Market St (near Lincoln Monument) in Newark, NJ.

It's the difference between losing a fight and refusing one. (h/t Kossack james richardson)
