  •  If you notice, I didn't blame Weprin. (0+ / 0-)

I blame Joe Crowley, who unilaterally awarded the nomination to a candidate with obvious weaknesses, and did so intentionally.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

    •  Would a stronger candidate have made a difference? (0+ / 0-)

      I doubt it.

No doubt Crowley didn't want too strong of a candidate, since a good part of the district will become his after redistricting.  But Weprin was strong enough.

“If you think I can be bought for five thousand dollars, I'm offended." Rick Perry. It takes a helleuva lot more.

      •  No, he wasn't strong at all. (0+ / 0-)

As I mentioned in my diary, I met him under much less challenging circumstances, amongst a group primed to like him, and we found him extremely weak. If you want to hear what I mean, listen to the interview I linked to in the diary. The guy is in the wrong line of work.

Might a stronger candidate have made a difference? Possibly, and especially if s/he were a very conservative Democrat, especially on social issues. Like Carl Kruger conservative, only without teh gay. And off the top of my head, I can't think of an actual person who'd fill that bill.
