    but several Orthodox rabbis essentially forbid their congregations from voting for Weprin.  This despite the fact that Weprin is Jewish and Turner is a Roman Catholic.

    A big reason for this is not Israel, but same-sex marriage.  Weprin supported it, and paid a political price.

    Even though by all accounts he's a lousy candidate, he probably deserves some props for this.

      America pays a price when we let Theocrats run the show. This same crowd is also loudly objecting to a the Mosque in lower Manhattan. They like America's freedom of religion, but only for their religion.

      They don't object to just the gays, they object to anything that stands in the way of implementing Old Testament law on New York.

      I never said he was a bad assemblyman - he's not. And his district is much smaller and more liberal than NY-9 as a whole.

      What I said is that he's a terrible candidate.

      The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
