  •  Who do you think gets hired to build roads? (0+ / 0-)

    The EPA?

    Private contractors do.

So the "Government Spending" works to create jobs there just like it does in the defense contracts to Boeing.

If Government Spending cannot create jobs, why do states and cities compete so hard to get government funded projects?

    Rampant socialism?

And if we extend unemployement benefits to long-term unemployed, what do you suppose they do with that money?

They spend it at private sector stores that then either hire employees or don't have to lay employees off like they would otherwise be forced to do if DEMAND drops.

Government spending fuels short term demand to sustain economic activity and prime the pump for more permanent private sector demand (assuming the wealthy will ever remember that the middle class is not just a 'cost-of-labor input' but also a source of consumer demand built on purchasing power.

Someone in a very expensive suit is at the front door and says he wants to foreclose on our democracy. Where should I tell him he can put his robosigning pen?

I work in a state hospital and i am an employee of the State of North Carolina.  There are 10s of thousands of government jobs here.  That's what I don't get - every employee in this hospital is a government employee.  Hard to dispute the fact that this huge level 1 trauma center doesn't create jobs.  It creates thousands and thousands of ancillary jobs just to service this place.
