  •  "Midden" has always been one of my favorite (6+ / 0-)

words in English.  It seems so old-timey and centuries-ago and all that.  Guess that's all relative when reactionary, backwards-thinking Republicans take control.

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

Yes, no more "middle class," now we've become the "midden class."

Disposable and disposed of, and fit to be stripped of all government services right down to the level of garbage collection.

I'll start spreading this one ferociously.

.... was a song title by a band I knew back in the day, and hoo-boy was that ever prophetic.

FitzWalkerstan.  Right out of a dystopian novel.

I was just thinking about that in relation to the phrase Job Creators too.  That phrase is also right out of a dystopian novel: it suggests something like a priesthood or an elite ruling class that is more or less secretive and to which the masses give special offerings in exchange for the possibility of favorable treatments.

"Ssshh!  If you say anything bad about the Job Creators, they'll abandon our city and then we'll all go hungry!"

It's like "The Party" in 1984, or "The World Controllers" in Brave New World.    It's one of those ideas that if we saw it in fiction we might even laugh because it's so transparently a representation of some concept the author wanted to put across.  Almost as bad as if Perry got elected and renamed Health & Human Services as "The Ministry of Charity," following the 1984 nomenclature.
