We have a Mom picks movie night here in my house once a week and have ever since my oldest could see and understand what was on the screen..

The Searchers has always been my favorite...this-is-a-real-western movie. The American Film Institute has listed it in the top 100 films in more than 10 catagories.

Both my sons have watched it more than once and loved party night with 10 young was played and liked as well...

Thank-God for DVDs and those of us who work not to let great pieces of film art history fade away.

Thanks for sharing the story behind the story...I will pass this on to my sons who hopefully will do the same :)

The Searchers is one of about a dozen films that I insisted she watch after I met her in order to understand the American character/psyche.  The film really depicts something very American.  Both positively and negatively...but American nonetheless.
