bothered to vote for a lacklustre Democratic gubernatorial candidate--which Creigh Deeds certainly was--and a creep like McDonnell gets in.  Republican governors, attorney generals, and lieutenant governors are NEVER good news.

Women in Northern Virginia can always go across the river to DC to get an abortion, but women downstate will not be able to do so easily.

I wish there were a safe abortion method that a woman could take in HER OWN HOME without anyone's knowing about it!

they would pass laws requiring all pregnancies to be registered immediately upon discovery..  and then require that all failed pregnancies be investigated to determine that no abortion had taken place...

I live downstate (Hampton Roads) and agree with your whole post!

There are definitely herbs that are known to induce abortion (pennyroyal to name one), but the woman-lore / knowledge how to use them has been lost.

      •  Yes, solesse413, that knowledge went up in (0+ / 0-)

smoke in the Witch burnings of the late Middle Ages and so-called "Renaissance."

However, it can be regained.  Pennyroyal should be made into a tea and drunk every 28 days.  One should never, ever ingest pennyroyal oil, which is a poison.  The leaves of a herb called rue, eaten daily, will prevent pregnancy, so they say.  A teaspoon of the seeds of the wild carrot, a.k.a. Queen Anne's Lace, taken in a glass of water after a night of love, will prevent conception.

In Roman times, women ate a herb called sylphium, which was related to the fennel plant.  However, sylphium was harvested out of existence.

In the jungles of South America grows a herb called piri-piri, which, if eaten by a girl of child-bearing age, will prevent conception for 7 years, according to The Shaman's Apprentice, a fascinating book.

The knowledge is around--we just need to tweet it.
