    I agree that I hear echoes of Twain here. There's also the even older "Pardoner's Tale" of Chaucer with its twisted morality. I feel like I get a sense of Hawthorne here too. In any event, i enjoyed it although I found the young questioner too obvious a device and the last paragraph was too on the nose. The pastor was spot on dialogue-wise. A very nice read that. I would say I couldn't put it down but....I guess I couldn't scroll down fast enough.
