Radiation and magnetism are different in so many ways with one being a force and the other a particle wave.  But progress is being made little by little.

if you can shield radiation, you can use the effect to deflect high-energy particles.  Again, I realize I'm getting ahead of myself.

      •  The thought came to mind this morning (0+ / 0-)

that you may be more right than wrong.  The steps toward radiation shielding may come from some aspect of magnetic shielding.  Who knows?  Some parts of radiation are energy in origin while others are particles.  Maybe some can be shielded while others need a different tack.

You sure did bring along a lot of pondering to this marsupial.  Thanks.
