Do you have some examples of how this has worked when you've called into Rush or Sean or any of these guys?

Mike Stark does this all the time.  Just curious what your personal experience has been.

Let me just give my 2 cents, if it's OK.

A lot of your advice I find to be good...especially the enumerated items at the beginning.

But I think some of your talking points may be a little...ineffective.

Whenever I've gotten through to one of these guys, or when I've heard an effective dissenter like Stark get through, what works are facts.  Cold, hard facts.  That you can back up and articulate effectively.  They always leave Rush, in particular, flat footed, because they usually don't have a response.  Look for some of Mike Starks diaries for many examples of this.

In my experience what doesn't work, and in fact backfires, are these cute one liners that sound like something some campaign flak would say...the stuff about storks bringing babies, jokes about weight, kryptonite and superman, etc.  It's all just silly, doesn't really make any point at all (especially considering the audience) and the host is just able to laugh you off.  I even cringe when I hear those stupid lines come out of the WH or the Dem spin machine on MSNBC.

But by sticking to facts, and making the host stumble for words, you do something very important...shake the listeners faith in the host's infallibility.  If some idiot liberal caller can make Rush or Sean stammer, it can make an audience member..even one...doubt what he's listening to.

But the stupid little one liners accomplish nothing except to make you feel clever and sound stupid.

Otherwise, I think for the most part your advice is sound.

Facts are good - but not enough. Give people something short and memorable that sums up a whole bunch of facts, and they can use that short-hand tag to wrap up the whole package and take it away with them.

I threw the ones out above for starter ideas; I'll admit some work better than others. If you or anyone else has better ideas, please feel free to share.

And let's face it. Republicans have been throwing around insults at the Democrats for years. It's nice to be able to have a quick rejoinder ready ahead of time rather than fuming in silence while you try to think of something.

But you have to remember, most anyone who listens to Rush or Sean is going to already be converted.  Think how you'd feel if you heard some clever one liner about a Dem or progressive policy.  These little jokes will just be dismissed as insults from a rude liberal.  ONLY facts work to put a chink in these guys armor.  There's a reason nothing sticks to Limbaugh and he's been around and so long.  If witty one liners and fat jokes made a difference, he'd have been off the air a long time ago.

In any event, do what you think will be effective.  I hope you're able to get through some day to put you ideas to the test.  Good luck.

      Just curious.

It is ignorance which is hopeless.

      to get through.

i get through once in a while locally but they use call screening software and after going off  a few times they won't let me on unless they're desperate.

a friend gets through regularly to make his points more civilly, but that might be because of the individual tolerance of this local blowhard.

Progressives will lose all major messaging battles until they picket the limbaugh/hannity megastations and boycott those stations' local sponsors.
