And I think we're all guilty of tending to avoid topics that might challenge us.

It has been quick shocking to me how this liberal progressive site can be intolerant about so many subjects.

A small personal anecdote: I've been castigated once every couple of weeks over the last six months because of my British nationality. That should be inconceivable in most progressive discourse. And if I as a privileged Hugh Grant sounding white guy get this kind of flak, imagine what other 'different' people get.

I don't agree that these are true. Reasonable people can disagree but that's why I'm saying this, to me, these stmts are false.

I think liberal, intellectual people see out occasions to learn and being here is a fair indication that people are open minded.

If I had negative assumptions about a group that others did not share I'd have to question my premises.

Sure, I saw this happen to you, once or twice, which, by the numbers makes it meaningless. I'm sorry people were so stupid to you. But there are stupid people. And there are people unable to interact with the heaviness of the chips of their shoulders. What, 15%, according to Colbert? To me, that's a matter of having thick enough skin to let the absurd roll off one's back.

Being called a 'slippery Brit' still makes me laugh.

But you're misunderstanding me: I'm not saying all Kossacks are intolerant on all subjects. I'm saying some are on some subjects. If you don't believe me, I have two letters for you: I and P.
