  •  Oooh, slap me on the wrist. But get your (0+ / 0-)

facts straight, though, before you start stalking me and making claims about supposed "out and out calls for violene." (I'm a cello fan myself. Viva Yo Yo Ma and Pablo Casales!)

I'm also a Vietnam vet with a little experience with "violence," and I tell you what, it's out there, and there are lots of your fellow consumers who are a hair-trigger-breadth away from going off like a white phosphorus shell. No amount of tsking, no number of negative comments and invocations of community rules, is likely to deflect what I sincerely believe is around the corner. I have family, grandkids even, and the last thing I want to see in my or their lifetimes is what I am pretty sure is going to happen (already happening, if you look at the news at all.)

Truth to tell, I just write this stuff to do my "I Protest!" thing, to try to open some eyes. I do not really give a rip if you or anyone else reads what I write, because I have been around long enough (and watched blogs like this degenerate into largely ineffectual echo chambers and persnickety-ism amplifiers) to understand the wisdom of Futilitarianism.

There's pockets of order and kindness in the world, but the rest is that "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short" stuff that old Hobbes was so right about. Humans can do pretty decent in small groups for relatively short times, but 7 billion of us, divvied up the way we are, with our technology potentiating the worst parts of us way faster than our better natures can hope to even try to keep up and mother into better channels, are beyond any self-restraint or recall or control or palliation even. And as a nurse, and parent and grandparent and former Boy Scout and all, that really frustrates me. But that is how it is.

And I wonder if you could take your logic in hand, and your blue pencil, and indicate where, anywhere, in this little missive, or my diary above, or even in the other place you made that claim about me, that I either "supported" or "out-and-out-called-for-violence."
