to the question posed at Netroots Nation about what this administration plans to do to help all the unemployed people over 50, with plenty of education and experience in their fields, to re-employ them.

All we ever hear about is people with high school diplomas who worked in factories who need to retrain for some mythical jobs somewhere. Millions of us out here are college grads, many with multiple advanced degrees, and we aren't even eligible for state retraining programs -- those seem to be reserved for people who have never been to college, as if a college degree is a guarantee that one will never be unemployed. We've exhausted any unemployment benefits or were never eligible for them in the first place, but we still can't find work. So, payroll tax cuts and extended benefits don't help us. We want jobs -- decent jobs at decent pay, like we used to make before our jobs were all sent overseas. And don't try and tell us that it's "structural" or that our jobs were destroyed by automation. Our jobs are still viable -- they are just being done in other countries for far less money and/or by people with far less experience.

Until unemployment is addressed -- really addressed, not like it has been so far and is being addressed in the new jobs bill -- nothing else matters. There are no other issues when you don't have a job, or money, or any of the things that money will buy.

And if it's Republicans who are keeping us unemployed, then the President and his people need to stand up and say it -- over and over and over and over again.
