    That's pretty standard carbon fiber.  It's strong and super stiff but that means that it's brittle and will crack when hit by something.  The F1 cars and aerospace industries can afford to regularly inspect things with ultrasonic probes and similar to make sure that there's no hidden defects but they're willing to pay the high prices needed to do regular inspections and maintenance.  Car owners wouldn't be willing to pay similar prices for a car unless they're buying something like a 400+k supersports car.

      concept too, until the Jobses and Gateses came along.  You're taking the IBM/Xerox approach to technology adaptation.
