60 seats in the Senate to me.  Lieberman is not a Democrat and was merely a mole in the Caucus.  The Nelson Twins, Landrieu, and other Blue Dogs are not Democrats.

You don't understand "reconciliatiion."  You also haven't paid attention for the past two days.

Senate can use reconciliation to pass budgetary matters (like the stimulus) by majority vote.

Wow, you really like to get personal against me. I recognize you. If you are always going to get personal against me, then please stop commenting on my comments.

Hilarious -- then you should be stunned because I look just like Sophia Loren at 29.

abuse of anonymous holds, filibusters and 2/3 majority neededto pass anything. You either haven't been paying attention, have an incredibly short memory or are being intentionally disingenuous. Either way, there never was a super majority.

        •  Wrong, it Takes 60 Votes to Break a Fillibuster (0+ / 0-)

You are wrong that it takes 2/3 vote to break a fillibuster. It takes 60 votes. Democrats had 60 seats in the senate once Al Franken was seated. Even when they didn't have 60 votes, they could have used the reconciliation process to pass budgetory matters with a simple majority.

The Bush budget was passed using the reconciliation process. Yes, it only took a simple majority to pass his budget. The downside to reconciliation was that the law had to be sunset after 10 years. Of course, the GOP got the Bush tax cuts extended an extra two years. If the democrats wanted to pass their own budget using reconciliation, they could have. But in the name of fairness, they don't use that tool.

Yes, its best when both parties are accomodating. But you can't be accomodating when the other side is fighting a war.
