  •  Romney's Absurdity.... (11+ / 0-)

I record and watch each of these debates in fascination, it's like a mix of a classic realty TV show and Alice in Wonderland.    Given the mindset of the American Voter, one of these individuals has a good chance of being President, so attention must be paid.

I had been rooting for Romney, as being incrementally more reasonable than the other real contender, Perry, until this question.

I don't even rembember what it was other it not being a sklam dunk, like taxes (against them) or government services (for them in specifics, as in military spending, but against them in the aggregate)  That this defies a basic mathematical principle is of no matter.

So, stumped, Romney said something like this:

America is a great country,  we are patriotic,  when we stand for the national anthem we put our hands to our heart, like this, no other country does this.

So, we are great because we do something with our right hand to show how dedicated, blindly so, to our country that we are.   Romney was oblivious to another country that did this, and tried to get the rest of the world to do the same thing, right up to when they stopped doing it abruptly on  May 8, 1945.

This show goes on without a word of demural, so absurdities abound, such as in the previous debate Newt Gingrich exclaiming that the first day he was sworn to the office of president he would fire Ben Bernanke, the Chief of the Fed, a man who holds a position that once confirmed can no more be terminated by a President.

No one points these absurdities out during these debates, unless they go against the right wing dogma.  And even those simply let comments like this pass,  just may be called to account for allowing such distortions to be promulgated.

      wonderful world, briefer

and worse than their ineptness is the portion of the population that hungrily eats it all up as proof that the Democratic President is a loser.  Frightening times.  I wish I were a writer for I would pen a novel to beat all novels.

And she's good at appearing sane, I just want you to know. Winwood/Capaldi
