  •  Police intimidate the protesters (12+ / 0-)

and then arrest grab them, throw them to the ground and arrest them.  One woman was arrested when a policeman pushed her and she asked him to take his hands off her.  If you look at some of the videos, you will see where police just pushed people who were passively complying.

From the very beginning, the police have been using intimidation tactics in hopes that the protesters would respond so that they can break up a peaceful protest.  Every incident that I have seen recorded was a case of the police initiating physical contact with a protester.  Some cases, the protesters were injured.

One camera man who was not arrested said that the police grabbed him as he was filming and threw him to the ground. They never said anything, but just grabbed him. He said he went limp and they just left him there lying on the ground instead of arresting him.  He said that he was so shaken up by the incident that he was not sure if he would return. He was a middle aged guy.

    •  It's kind of shocking the first time (10+ / 0-)

police assault you for no legitimate reason.

It really does get easier to handle, though.

I've just been going thru what I can find of vids and things, trying to make sense of it (raw video can be so confusing)  and seeing the pattern you're describing.

I was watching the interview with that cam-man but I didn't know who it was.

Someone was just interviewed about half hour ago, a woman in a hat, who was saying this was just like the Republican Convention, but also that she hadn't seen the park so alive in ten years.  She said "Come to DC!!!!"

      Namaste!

So long as the protesters recognize it for what it is and don't allow themselves to be intimidated or goaded into violence, their use of brutal thug tactics is very good for us, especially in this age of ubiquitous video recording.  Let them expose themselves for who and what they objectively are -- bag men for Lord Blankfein and the Goldman gangsters.  The anger and hatred of the people towards them will only grow.

if more police came over to our side, as in Madison.

It won't be like Madison, b/c NYPD is different than Madison PD.  But the fact is these guys' pensions have been raided too, and their unions are under pressure across the country.

As long as we keep protesting for the middle class and do not commit violence, some of them will come over to our side.
