...you threw it out the back of the end zone on this one.

It is made all the worse by the high hopes deliberately fed by Obama's ascendancy, the fact that Obama is the first African-American President and multiracial President. It is made worse by the fact that Obama promised the Democrats the hearts of a generation, that was willing to listen to him, now turned into the 'Lost Generation'.

    What?

Look, President Obama is not oriented the way we want. He's Harvard/NYC oriented and we want some Minnesota/Wisconsin orientation. Or maybe some want a California orientation. Okay. Fine. That is what it is, it's disappointing to some and obvious to others that it's played out this way. But he's done good along with the bad. He's listened to some non-Geithners along with the Geithners.

"How can we recover from Obama" is a question that has no applied meaning. All it has is the ring of holier-than-thou. We're in a democracy, politics has meaning, politics is a game that President Obama played well. The situation is clear. We need to play it better in the future, and "recovering from Obama" for us, if it means anything, means voting and working for him in 2012 because there's no "recovery" that involved President Perry or President Romney, and there's not another viable candidate.

So that's my answer to you.

If I thought you were serious, and credible, my answer would be this instead:

Local work. Just do local political or social work. That's where it starts, that's where you gain perspective, and that's where you can begin the long march to real change. It's actually very easy if you're willing to work hard.

But I don't think you're prepared to not sew on the waxwings and fly at the sun just yet. You want a revolution now and a reorientation of the whole political party situation now. You're not ready for primetime and so valid "lesser evil" rationales will have to do for now.

it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses
