  •  The ACA is not "smaller things." Ending the Iraq (10+ / 0-)

War is not smaller things.  Erasing al Queda is not small things.

    •  ACA is a mixed bag, and Al Queda? (0+ / 0-)

So wait, liberals are celebrating war now?  Mission Accomplished part II and this time it's the peace loving hippies breaking out the champagne?   How is it that assassination is better when it's 'our guy' who does it?

And killing a largely irrelevant ex-focal point of a largely decentralized ideological movement is -not- the same as killing it.

If anything, we gave them a bloody martyr.

      •  Disagree. Yes I'm liberal and yes I think it's (0+ / 0-)

great that OBL is dead.  But what I was referring to was the further progress at eliminating al-Queda leadership.  This is real "defense", not war-by-choice.

Liberals are not necesarily pacifists, though imo most wars are stupid, immoral, etc.  Letting someone else kill us isn't the same as being peace-loving.

And, single-payer advocates (of which I'm one) notwithstanding, the ACA is a great change for America.  When people realize the change it's made, they'll be celebrating too.  Remember when Universal Health Care was our goal?  Well, we got it!

        •  No, we did not get "universal health care." (0+ / 0-)

          We got compulsory private insurance.

          Try again.

Barack Obama: So morally bankrupt that he thinks people who tortured other people to death should get a pass. Likes to prosecute whistleblowers, though.

        •  This is univeral health care.. (0+ / 0-)

In the same manner that we all have universal car care.

          •  30-40 million Americans might disagree. Let's (0+ / 0-)

check back in 3-4 years.  Apparently about 50% of those wo will get insurance then are not aware of this, as of now.

It's life or death for many.  Much more important imo than the private-public aspect.

        •  Also (0+ / 0-)

A small group of fanatics in another country managed to kill off 3000 American civilians.  Our response has been to slaughter at least tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of civilians, and in the process the number of Al Queda volunteers(and there animosity toward the US) has drastically increased.

Eliminating leaders while giving further evidence of the imperialism of America isn't going to stop terrorism.   If anything, we are just manufacturing martyrs.

Our actions in Afghanistan have made us less safe, not more.   Statements to the contrary are being sold us by people who want more funding for war.

There was always another, better way to handle this.  I'm not a pacifist, but this war is madness.

    •  Ending the Iraq war hasn't happened. (0+ / 0-)

And the drawdown has been on the same schedule George Bush set, not faster, which means that it is simply a continuation of George Bush's policy.

      Try again.
