  •  Protect our assets, huh? (10+ / 0-)

We have one major asset. We live in it. We are not underwater and I don't think we're going to be.

We are looking at another major asset. Looking out the window right at it, in fact. We will not live there. It is already inhabited, by the likes of deer, pileated woodpeckers, passing coyotes and bald eagles, and a lot of native trees, and we intend for it to remain that way. If we get it, we will probably have to use house equity to do it. We are beginning the investigation process.

So what protection are we supposed to be doing? Of coutse we have insurance, and the house is in good shape. We have a little bit -- very little -- in cash, my 401k, and Charles' employee stock purchase combined. VERY little. Like most people for decades now, our home, together with the land it sits on,  is basically it.

That guy they showed must be some sort of turkey vulture in human skin. No, I take it back; turkey vultures serve an ecological purpose, and I don't think he does.

Organ donors save multiple lives! A donor's kidney gave me my life back on 02/18/11; he lives on in me and in others. Please talk with your family about your wish to donate and sign up to give others the gift of life.
