People are really mean to Haitians living in IDP camps.

How do you feel about the Occupy Wall Street movement? I am excited about it.

I went to the SF March.

    •  I love it! (8+ / 0-)

In tough economic times populism always rises. But there is rightwing and leftwing populism. Rightwing populism always rises 1st because it offers "easier" answers, blame a minority (at different places and points in history Jews, ethnic Chinese, Gypsies, Black/Brown people), betrayal of national identity by the elites (the elites cost us to lose WW1), rally around the flag and all will be well. It's after the easy answers don't work that left wing populism tends to rise.

It's why I wasn't as scared by Tea Party rising first as a lot of other folks were.

I hadn't read it before, but it makes a lot of sense.

I was one of the folks scared by the rise of the Tea Party and the mainstream's coddling of it; wish I had had access to your viewpoint then, would have calmed me down.
