  •  Great Diary! (5+ / 0-)

I especially like the mechanism for nationalizing the banks, which I had not thought of before:  simply call in the loans!

I argued a few days ago that the government should take a huge equity position in banks in exchange for a capital infusion, but it had not occurred to me that - as the banks' largest creditor - the gov't could simply call in its loans.  Brilliantly simple!

Oh yeah . . . and I also like the idea of investigating and prosecuting the banksters on national TeeVee.

    Thanks!

Politics is the neverending story we tell ourselves about who we are as a people.

    •  Why Bloomberg wants to throttle the Occupy WS (5+ / 0-)

sooner or later the obvious fix will ocurr to many people and become a demand and become part of the public discusssions.

They, the financial elites don't want those open discussions. they have a stranglehold with captive politicians and individuals in a bind to keep from changing the status quo.

The Republican Chairman of the banking committee in Congress blurted out his objections to all efforts to rein in the banks, protect consumers, cap predatory and payday loan rates that even mobsters and the Mafia can't charge for by saying:

"We are here to serve the banks".  not as a joke, for real he was insisting that is all he is there for.

If you think that you and a bunch of other people can just show up on Wall St, camp out and have any effect whatsoever, you're dreaming. *YUP!* h/t Hamden Rice
