  •  Seems like there is no point to these. What is it? (0+ / 0-)

It is great progressives are out protesting, but, usually if you're going to have demonstration it is a good idea to have a point, some leadership, and make some demands.  These seem to be just gatherings with no point. Unless they have a focus there will be no change. What do you want to change? If you want change lobby congress and vote. Are you registering voters? Are you getting people to sign any petitions to lobby congress on issues? If not this is pointless.

We've got encyclopedias full of 'demands'.

      We are the 99%.
We're here to take back our Country.

Unless we 'reset' the table so that the people understand the problem and the problem understands the will and power of the people, no well messaged demands are going to get us anywhere.

If that worked, we'd be there by now.

The central message serves that broader need.

      What’s the message?

At times it can be hard to discern, but, at least to me, the message was clear: the demonstrators are seeking accountability for Wall Street and corporate America for the financial crisis and the growing economic inequality gap.

And that message is a warning shot about the kind of civil unrest that may emerge — as we’ve seen in some European countries — if our economy continues to struggle.

Someone in a very expensive suit is at the front door and says he wants to foreclose on our democracy. Where should I tell him he can put his robosigning pen?
