God led me to a man named Michael, He was under a building I had never been to before. I offered him food, I saw he was homeless, and I gave him a ride in my car driving around, knowing I needed to help him but not sure what I needed to do. I got him a sausage biscuit and took him to the unemployment office and to a few dry cleaners because the man had experience working in a dry cleaners. But there were not many jobs available for him. He had lost his son years ago and he was in a downward spiral ever since. As a mom I could relate. Depression is overwhelming. He talked to me and told me someone had stolen his ID card, so I said well lets get you one. I had only $27 on me, but it only took $20 to get him a new ID. He was so thankful to get it because if you are caught in Gainesville without ID you will be arrested as a vagrant. This is what I see reporting from Gainesville FL.

Vetwife, I am with you in making that cop answer to your daughter. I have brought up my children up knowing they can not simply ignore people in need of help. I tell them at the very least we can pray for them, but need to be cautious too. But I have heard how a cop will take you out of town rather than try to find help for someone needing help. I do not know if that is policy or just practice but I would like to see that changed. Your daughter was telling me all about it on the phone and I know it is something she will not soon forget.

I am glad that despite the tough times you are going through you looked into your closets and saw where you can possibly give. You are helping to solve the problem and no matter how bad things seem to be, we have to remember we might still be able to help someone. Even your voice is a huge thing to give on here about those gentlemen you saw. It is changing the minds of the readers and making a differance. Keep it up Vetwife!
