Neither OWS nor Occupy Boston are occupying residential/buisness areas like Harvard Commons or SoHo. We're in the middle of the financial districts. As far as general impact (of Occupy Boston), we encroached on a number of homeless people who "resided" their before our arrival.

Apart from the wear and tear on the turf our impact on the general population is minimal (we're in a high visibility area for people employed in the surrounding buildings - but that's the point!).

Finally, the part about the tents is largely based on the police presence. OWS protesters have been told by the police that tents are forbidden due to "construction laws", signs on trees or sticks in the ground are prohibited due to fire safety regulations, etc. It's all a load of manure, but they don't want to push the issue as the cops WILL arrest all of them, shut the thing down, and deal with it in the courts. THAT is the true difference between Boston and NYC - the disposition of the cops to our occupation.

Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity, only not as much fun.
