      But I think there's more leverage in threatening to remove money. And more of threat in flexing power.

       A lot of people don't want to permanently close their accounts because it's a pain. You can tell them it's not but the perceived difficulty is still a barrier. If people removed most of their money and kept their accounts open they could make a powerful gesture without having to change their online payments, get new checks, new cards, etc.

        I have been trying to promote an idea like this for a long time.  Only if you hold out the prospect of putting the money back in does it have any power over them.

        Another idea I have been trying to promote is a credit card strike.  Everyone would not use their credit card for one of two days, to show how it is us, the little people, who are a necessary foundation of all this financial speculation.

        so you probably do have a better shot at getting a lot of people to participate.  But honestly, it's not very hard to switch banks, and if you're leaving your money in the big banksters' hands, you're sleeping with the enemy.
