Making SSM an issue would be asking for it on his part;  rumor is that the man is in the closet, and even after retiring from politics, remains so.

You can't govern if you can't tell the country where you are taking it. The plot of Obama's presidency has been harder to follow than "Inception." -- F. Rich

    •  Both Kochs are married with (0+ / 0-)

children. Not that that necessarily defines sexual identity or gender choice.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama

      •  Not Edward Irving "Ed" Koch (0+ / 0-)

I think you're thinking about the two conservative brothers Koch, of Dutch descent and Protestents.  But Ed Koch, the Jewish former mayor of NYC, has never been married, and does not comment about his sex life:

What do I care? I'm 73 years old. I find it fascinating that people are interested in my sex life at age 73. It's rather complimentary! But as I say in my book, my answer to questions on this subject is simply Fuck off. There have to be some private matters left.
