web site there appears to be resistance to signing these petitions. (Full disclosure: I posted one of the petitions on the above list.)

Here is an opportunity to get real attention paid to issues we almost all agree are important. So where is the support? Why aren't these comments at the top of the list?

The very limited support being generated by these petitions ON A LIBERAL WEBSITE substantiates Republican talking points that these issues are not supported by the American people.

    I find it very disheartening...

Hey dumb dumbs, if tax cuts created jobs, we would have so many jobs that we would glady let the illegals come in.

about the petitions onto the rec list we might have some success.  But not a single one, to my knowledge, has made it or even come close.

I thought this one had a chance, but it's obviously going nowhere.  It got swamped by a whole bunch of diaries immediately after it.

for the White House to accumulate contact info for money and volunteer asks.

And that the Administration will not answer the petitions in a serious manner.  (Which may be true, but regardless the way things are now it still gives the administration a biased view of the concerns of the 'base' -- 10 or so marijuana related petitions and zero Afghan petitions visible?)

I'm actually quite jaded as to the effectiveness of petitions. I've signed petition after petition only to have them ignored or discarded when delivered to the "petitionee".

The only petitions I really get behind now are ones bound by law to be honored, like petitions to trigger a recall election or whatnot.

I will sign other petitions, but I see it as more of a symbolic act than one I truly believe will accomplish anything.

That being said, I did look at and sign some of the petitions linked, here, because even if I believe it's a fruitless effort, the causes are worth showing your support.
