    The willow tree grows fast and it looks pretty, but it's short-lived, prone to disease and its branches are weak.

    The oak grows slowly, but will last many generations.  In contrast, the white oak grows slowly, but it leaves for hundreds of years, and its strong, close-grained wood is highly prized.
