...possibility of another Naderite third party disaster.  The fetish that progressives have for the self destructive third party strategy never fails to amaze me.  The Tea Party showed the path towards success--take over a major party, but progressives want to ever sabotage themselves with a spoiler strategy.  It's like they want to fail!

    •  as predicted. (0+ / 0-)

The dynamic can already be seen.

When the OWSers are camped in the White House lawn and the Capitol protesting the latest sellout by the Dems, we'll see if the party still loves them and wants them around...

      •  If (when) Obama approves the tar sands pipeline (0+ / 0-)

that will likely create a big fissure. OWS will object and the pragmatists will turn on them.

those who are still touting the DLC party line are going to be talking to an empty stadium pretty soon.

They're basically down to the Supreme Court nominations as their only remaining justification for "any Democrat any time" strategy.

don't they realize the Colombia Free Trade Agreement is good for international business?!  Fucking hippie purists, caring about what happens to some brown-skinned labor organizers nobody ever heard of in some other country!

    •  And there we have it. (0+ / 0-)

The origins of the meme that OWS must support the lesser of two evils. And if they decline to play the two-party shell game, the inevitable disater will be all of their making.

OWS will be under the Democratic bus in 6 months time I predict.

    •  Yeah, like when we put Dean in charge (0+ / 0-)

of the DNC and initiated the fifty-state strategy and did our damnedest to take over a major party--only to have the people we helped into office knife us in the back and kick our leaders to the curb.

The Tea Party has sway because of the billionaires standing behind it.
