  •  I was there (10+ / 0-)

when Geraldo arrived at the park.  He happened to walk right through my camera view.  A young woman sitting nearby recognized him immediately and said "F You Geraldo".  He and his crew walked to the right hand corner of the park, up on a granite platform that is part of a wall that goes around that area.

I walked over toward them but was too far away to hear what they were saying.  There was a drum circle just below them that was very loud.

The crew did draw a lot of attention.

I can't say for sure whether or not there were any provocateurs in the area but my guess is that the people around him willingly chanted "Fox News Lies".

There are a number of protester signs around the park against FoxNews.  FoxNews has come there with one of their RedEye jerks.  When he was filming, protesters stood next to him with signs that were negative toward FoxNews.  They stage a sort of counterprotest when people like FoxNews come around by standing near them with signs that ridicule or say negative things about them to make it harder for them to do their news reports.

So my guess is, based on what I saw, that it was not staged.  The protesters really don't like FoxNews and they make a fuss whenever any of their reporters come around.

    •  So, this is their usual modus operendi? (0+ / 0-)

I really appreciate you jumping in as our "on the ground reporter"

Do the loudest shouters of Fox News Lies look like people you might recognize as ows supporters?

I get that there might be too many people involved to make this call.  but I know how observant you are.

      peace
      woe

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

are really diverse.  Most of them are pretty obviously supporters.  Supporters of the movement are like a slice of America.  All ages, races, some look more avant garde, some are very mainstream America.  Some are the resident protesters, others come by to support, others are tourist or passers by.

where Geraldo shows up and walks right  past my camera.  Look at the 2:15 minute mark when he arrives.

Then you can see where he was set up with his crew at about the 3:30 minute mark.  I didn't hang around to watch him for long or get too close to him.  I don't hear the chanting in this video.  It may have happened later.  I don't think he stayed too long.

    •  The sound was dubbed. (1+ / 0-)

When the chant was "occupy" some of the close ups to the lips showed the sound was not in sync.  Mixing a new sound track and adding it is very easy. It helps cover visual cuts, of which there were many.  If it were raw footage, there should have been an audio change with each changed perspective.
