    I can sort of hear it in the first movement second theme.  I'm pretty sure I know the part you're talking about.

      And towards the end of the first movement, above the long retreating quasi-ostinato passage in the strings, there is a long series of sixteenths passed among the solo woodwinds like a soccer ball, and there it is again, right in those little filigrees, sure as shit and taxes.

      Eventually you get to Schenkerian analysis, which is much more anal than analytic.  What a listener hears is the most important thing.   If you don't hear it, it's quite possible that this really is Paul is Dead stuff. :-)
