  •  Cain is DOA. Once he is properly vetted (0+ / 0-)

it's all over. I enjoyed his pure bullshit answer to Larry O'donnell as to why he didn't take part in the Civil Rights movement - "I was too young". When Larry pointed out that Cain was in college in the middle 60's and living in Alabama of all places - we just waffled around and muttered something to the effect that his father had told him "to keep his head down".

He also could not clearly explain how he avoided serving during the Vietnam war (or any other time for that matter).

He'll never survive a hard look.

    •  Tell me the last time (6+ / 0-)

being able to avoid serving in Vietnam was a presidential disqualifier.

GW beat a decorated vet and Herman's stance on the civil rights movement doesn't apply in a GOP primary.

To paraphrase Mr. Cain...You analysis is incorrect and your assumptions are wrong...because you are viewing the potential for his success from a democratic point of view.

The current GOP gives no fucks about the civil rights act and his sitting it out is a bonus in many eyes.  I think I have already made a sufficient point about his military service.

On 9/26/11 at the end of his show Al Sharpton broke it down like it needed to be broken.

a hard time getting that 1/3 black vote he constantly brags about when they learn what a hero he was!!

Hell, if everyone followed Cain's example blacks would still be on the back of the bus.

        •  Did I not make that point clear? (0+ / 0-)

Cause I thought I made it perfectly clear with the polls and the other information that he gets beat in the general but has a chance to make it out of the primary.

If you would rather face Romney that's fine but the numbers clearly state that eventhough Cain performs better in the GOP primary he performs worse than Romney in the general, be a little strategic.

          •  You mean those same "numbers" that (0+ / 0-)

had it "in the bag" for Perry a few weeks ago. And Cain is nowhere near Perry's former 38%!

            •  There is a difference between Perry and Cain (0+ / 0-)

              1. Cain has been in the race since the beginning
              2. Cain hasn't faltered or looked stupid in any of the debates(from a GOP  perspective)
              3. He's gaining momentum
              4. He's not Romney
              5. He's not a politician
              6. His baggage is unknown for the most part.

You are going to have to come to grips with reality here.  You may not like him but he is running a serious campaign for president and you would rather face him than Romney in the general.

                •  It isn't hurting him (0+ / 0-)

and if that is the best example you have of him faltering from a gop perspective, I can imagine you are starting to see my point.

                  I made six of them.

                  •  If Cain remains very long as frontrunner (0+ / 0-)

the other contenders will surely call him out as Ron Paul did after Cain's stupid fed chairman remark.

Last night the MSNBC commentators were discussing that Mittens will probably wait a couple of weeks before going after Cain since he may well self-distruct before then. Let the others mortally wound him and Mittens can then pick the carcuss.

                    •  He would have self destructed by now. (0+ / 0-)

A black guy is the GOP frontrunner and Mitt is a poor choice for many in the party.

Cain has a damn good shot at getting beat up by Obama.

so sure since he truly has not been taken seriously until very recently (after Christie withdrew from consideration).

His 9-9-9 bullshit is only now receiving a good vetting. Before this - why bother?

It's like Bachmann's ("I raised xxx biological and xxx foster children"). The actual truth may never be known since I don't think she will ever again be taken seriously.

Unless Perry really improves I'm sure his soon to be revealed jobs plan will never have a vetting since it's more than likely a non-starter at this point.

                          crap out for policy?

He's being backed by the tea party.  Having the govt collect half the money it needs to survive is a goal not a problem.
