    The debt ceiling had to be raised; the consequences of not doing so were too horrible to contemplate.  The Republicans, especially those in the House, had to have a way to deal with their TeaBaggers in order to do it.  Hence, the Super Committee.

    This leaves them few options:  The lesser evil in their choices may very well be to renege on their agreement, as opposed to living with triggered cuts they agreed to.  The fact that an election year is upon us notwithstanding.

    Rock, say hello to hard place.  Notice that McCain't didn't say anything about lowering the debt ceiling back to where it was.
