    Life," which has been traced back to an early 20th-century sermon.  There are a number of different versions of the thing on sound recordings--J. Cash did one version, Robert Goulet (!) another.  I personally love the thing, but of course I don't care for Cain's stupid rewrite.

    The whole point of the narrative is to emphasize how Christ changed the world without being famous, rich, a celeb, a corporate raider, etc.  It's clearly a denunciation of worldly values and powers, but the prosperity-gospel people will never get that.  They see Christ as a shortcut to wealth, which turns the man who tossed out the money changers into a kind of cash register.  No brain, no need for Advil.
