    something that any med tech could readily and quickly treat. A bystander with a cellular phone refuses to call 911 because:

    a) "It's not my job"
    b) "he's (insert race, color, creed here) and I got no use for those folks."
    c) "I'm running low on minutes"
    d) "My religion says that we are not to interfere when god calls someone to him. I cannot go against my religion, and you cannot make me"

    Sadly, in this country option d gets traction, even here to some extent.

    Medicine should be based on biology, not theology, but that concept flies in the face of ancient superstitions which are given primacy over all things, even over life itself.
