John huntsman stands to inherit billions, yet is the only R candidate who is not mean and stingy.

    •  I used to think that... (12+ / 0-)

...and then John Huntsman released an economic plan that is every bit as mean and stingy as anything else to come from the Republicans in recent years.  You know...crap like eliminating all taxation on capital gains while cutting programs that help the poor.

At that point, I pretty much lost any respect for him.

      •  That was my impression of him, as well. (6+ / 0-)

He's sane (especially in comparison to his opponents), reality-based in most other areas, and even occasionally humane, for a Republican (support for same-sex civil unions, which strike us here as a pathetic half-step, is a real act of moral courage for a Republican on the national scene).

But as soon as the subject turns to money, he sounds no different from the rest. Maybe not quite as nutty as Cain or as unprepared as Perry, but that's when you really understand why he's a Republican.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
